Dr. Afaf Al-Adsani is an experienced clinician and researcher who focused on diabetes, particularly concerning improving the quality of diabetes care. She worked as a consultant physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at a Al-Sabah Hospital in Kuwait, and established Diabetes Unit in the department. Her clinical work included a secondment job in Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait.
Her clinical work was combined with teaching and training role. She worked as a clinical tutor for medical students in Kuwait University, and fellowship programs of Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialisation. In addition, she served as a clinical examiner for the Royal college of physicians of UK.
Along with the clinical and teaching roles, she served as an accreditation surveyor for the Ministry of Health of Kuwait. This role enhanced her knowledge and skills in the quality and patient safety in heathcare.
Her work in research and membership in diabetes associations expanded her knowledge and skills to serve as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, including Diabetes Care Journal and Clinical Diabetes (American Diabetes Association journals), and Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice journal (International Diabetes Federation journal).
